FOCUS ON MAKERS

There is a wealth of talented makers out there struggling to reach their creative business goals all the while wearing the many hats that come with being an entrepreneur. From creating the actual products to social media managing, bookkeeping and more it can seem like the list is never ending. My goal is to reduce the workload and provide makers with professional photography at a fair rate that supports their passion and helps generate engaging content resulting in stronger brand loyalty.

Behind the filtered perfection of social media, we are all real people, with real stories and I believe it's important to share yours with your supporters so they get to know who you are. Ultimately people will support a real, genuine person over a large corporation. There are many creatives out there who have a story to tell about who they are, how they got where they are and how they do their part to add to the culture of Northern Ontario.
My goal is to help tell that story beautifully.

WHY CHOOSE YELLOW HOUSE PHOTOGRAPHY?

As a maker myself, I know how challenging it can be to always have solid, engaging and cohesive content across your blog, social media platforms and website. I know not all makers are photographers and how expensive it can be to contract out all of your needs, so I have decided to offer Northern Ontario makers a unique photography option tailored to your needs and most importantly, your budget.

I understand that not all makers will always need an hour long session for simply a handful of new products at launch time. This is why I offer makers who book a full length session unlimited lower cost mini sessions there after.

Do you have to be a handmade maker? Of course not! I would love to photograph a wide range of creative people from makers, to visual artists, musicians, small local business owners and more. Contact me to see if we jive!

MAKER PACKAGES

MINI SESSION

$195

  • *Unlimited mini sessions are only offered after a full length session has been purchased

  • 30 minute session

  • Your studio/workspace or a location of your choice

  • A sneak peek within 1 week of your shoot

  • Approximately 25 x photos at 1500px (longest edge), 72 dpi for sharing online/website etc.

  • 5 high resolution edited photos of your choice.

  • You will get: a mix of wide and close up shots of (1) your artwork or product, (2) your studio/workspace or store

  • Final files delivered within 2-4 weeks

*Mini sessions are only offered to makers who have booked a full length session with Yellow House in the past. 

FULL LENGTH SESSION

$395

  • 1 - 1.5 hour session

  • Your studio/workspace or a location of your choice

  • A sneak peek within 1 week of your shoot

  • Approximately 40 x edited photos at 1500px (longest edge), at a lower dpi; perfect for sharing online/website etc.

  • 15 high resolution, edited photos of your choice.

  • You will get: a mix of wide and close up shots of (1) your artwork or product, (2) your studio/workspace or store (3) portraits both posed and you creating your handmade goods or in progress.

  • 4-6 weeks for delivery of final photographs

*$15 off if you agree to credit Yellow House on social media and website.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO AFTER BOOKING?

DO YOUR HOMEWORK

If you are new to product and small business photography, do some serious thinking about what feeling you want your brand to express. Spend some time looking into products similar to yours and see what would fit your personal brand and vibe. Pinterest is a great tool for this type of research.

PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE

You know your brand best so all props that cohere with your brand styling are up to you to provide. Be sure to have all products as well as yourself ready to ensure no session time is used prepping. Keep in mind natural daylight is best for photography so look objectively at your work space. If it is in a dark area or room, you will need to set up an alternate work space with natural light to ensure successful photos. 

GET CAMERA READY

Have everything you need for styling at hand before I arrive. Natural elements like plants, rocks, and the like are a useful photography tool. When getting yourself ready try to avoid layering on more makeup than usual or getting a fresh hair cut too close to the shoot. Clothing with logos are distracting in photography (unless it is your own brand) so avoid that and opt for simple + comfortable clothing.
