I am a MAKER OF THINGS, PROUD MAMA
AND LOVER OF ALL THINGS YELLOW.
TRACY BAKER // MAKER OF THINGS
Hello! I’m Tracy and I'm a maker of all kinds based in Northern Ontario. I work from my ‘studio’ in the fenced off half of my living room in Sudbury. I have a two year old son named Wolfe who keeps me company and is the reason for the fence.
I often collaborate with my musician/carpenter husband, Josh Turnbull, including our self published children’s book, The Awful Alphabet. It’s a hilariously silly way for children to not only learn the alphabet, but also learn not to get stuck on little mishaps…after all, it could be worse!
I switch constantly between podcasts, music and Netflix binging while I work. Here are my current faves:
- The Outside Podcast
- This American Life
- Telefon Tel Aviv
- Nick Murphy
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (series, there is no movie)
WHY YELLOW HOUSE?
The name Yellow House is inspired by my childhood home. My siblings and I were raised in a happy yellow house by an entrepreneurial, hilarious mom who taught us about hard work but more importantly that big laughs with good friends are the most important things in life.
When she passed away in 2018, I rebranded my studio to honour her memory. As my biggest cheerleader, she was the first to support every new crazy endeavour and creative outlet, often being my willing guinea pig! From a bunch of kids running around a big yellow house to weddings, grand babies and houses of our own, mom was first to lend a hand, a hug or a listening ear.
Yellow House is in honour of a hard working, passionate woman with a sense of humour that couldn’t be beat!
